My Thoughts on Souls
April 22nd, 2009
I am one who believes deeply in souls. I believe that we are but souls striving to become spiritually perfected. That we have had many lives in earthly bodies and each time we are born into a new life, it is for the purpose of achieving higher spirituality of our soul. I strongly believe that each of us are on individual paths in life. In that time between death and birth our souls are learning what they need to perfect and what lessons they must ‘live’ through in order to achieve their goals. That we have guides in this realm before re-birth that help us decide where and when we will re-enter in order to work on these goals.
It doesn’t matter how long you are on the earth in your lifetime. The purpose is to either come in and teach something to someone else, or learn something yourself. Probably both. I also believe that people come in with familiar souls. Maybe not at the exact time of birth, but throughout your lifetime…and you’ve felt it before I’m sure…you feel connected to certain people, and certain people just really bug you. How many times have you felt instantly close to people and feel an immediate connection? Those are old souls that you’ve known and have shared past lifetimes with. Eventually you will find each other, whether as a spouse, brother, sister, friend, parent, teacher, etc. And you will reunite because you will support each other or learn from each other. You’re on a journey together, yet separately. And ironically, these souls may not reunite in the same roles as prior meetings. For instance, while you may have been mother daughter in one lifetime, you may now be friend-friend, or sisters, or grandmother-grandson or any one of infinite possibilities of relationships.
Think about it. You meet someone and become fast friends. So much in common. Then through the years you find out that while each of you grew up in different states, you both vacationed yearly in the same place. Or you both attended the same concerts or at one time attended the same church or school but never ‘knew’ each other personally back then. Destiny puts you in situations when you are supposed to be there. And on the flip side of this, there are also people we meet that we have an instant disconnect or ‘ill feelings’ about. I don’t believe this is coincidence, I believe it is a soul in which we’ve had past issues with. Maybe not a bad soul, but one we’ve had trouble with, who has gotten in the way of our individual journey.
I do believe that everything has some purpose. Some behind the scenes lesson that the soul is meant to experience, to learn from and to grow from. For instance it is so devastating when a parent loses a young child. The child is not here very long and it seems very tragic and devastating. Well, maybe that child entered to bring some sort of lesson to the soul of the parent. Such as dealing with devastating loss and helping others to deal with the same pain. You see parents of children who have been killed or have died, turn into major advocates against violence, abuse or champions of medical causes. Maybe the soul of the child was here to impact the soul of the parent. In turn, maybe the soul of the child also fulfilled his purpose. Maybe how your soul deals with a tragedy is the lesson in growth. Sometimes you may deal with something for years.
Even simple lessons like humility and humanity need to be mastered. You may be here to learn love or compassion or sincerity. Whatever our higher power feels is essential to become the perfect spiritual being, we are all destined to learn these…no matter how many lifetimes it will take.
You may take an earthly lifetime to work through issues. It make take you ten. But the goal is to work through them. And if you don’t, I believe you’ll be back again to try and learn that lesson, reach that goal for your soul. Maybe not with the same circumstances, but you’ll be back.
