Reflections of a morning.

June 14th, 2009

This morning I watched another incredible sunrise.  The vivid colors like a symphony of new light to start another day.  Stunning.  Every morning the sky is painted with new shades.  I stepped outside.  No cars going down the street or music or lawn mowers.  Just the melody of a few birds.  Singing and gathering food for their babies.

The finches on their feeder pecking at the Niger.  The spent seeds falling below onto the flat rock where rock doves savor the leftover seeds.  Robins instructing their young how to hunt for worms in the dew laden grass.  Bees collecting pollen from the fragrant honeysuckle vines.

I walk about not to disturb.  maviefolle 613I check out the budding dwarf tiger lilies, having only seen one fully blossom even though when I retire for the evening there are about 20 that are ready to full bloom.  I know the reason for this is the deer.  Overnight they have devoured all my would-be beautiful lilies.  The stems that held a half opened bloom the night before is now a chewed down nub.  But that’s alright, I’ve seen one full bloom and watching the deer scurry along in the morning mist is an awesome sight.
