Just a small place to reflect.

Welcome to my little piece of space that I’ve been calling ‘my little zen garden’. It’s just a small area but I enjoy it because there’s not much weeding and tending that I actually need to do.
My lavender is getting ready to bloom and I just love it by the little pile of stacked rocks!
Why do people stack rocks? Well, there are different reasons. When hiking, for instance, often times people will stack rocks along a trail to indicate the way that others should follow so that they can find them. “Pointing the way”.
I’ve also heard it’s a spiritual outlet. Stacked for inner peace and balance. Focus and meditation. For relaxation and reflection. A connection between earth and the universe. I can tell you I’ve done little piles (bigger than this though) and it is incredibly relaxing and calming. And you do get a bit lost in your thoughts while you’re stacking.
Of course, my little tower of stacked rocks is small. But if you’d like to see some awesome rock stacking, check out this site. Spectacular!
*See that little stone on the top of my stack? I have to laugh because every morning when I come outside that little rock is knocked off the top. The deer must bump it while feasting on my dwarf tiger lilies. (We have those lilies in every flower bed in our yard…but my little ‘zen garden’ is the only place the deer stop and devour them.) I find that kind of ironic.

Oh Sheila this looks lovely…
I collect pepples and little rocks. I have no idea why.
